About Me
I am a multi-ethnic female who identifies as a black American that grew up on the east coast, mostly in Connecticut, which is where I call home as my family resides there. My own experiences with therapy, finding someone I not only felt could relate to me but also safely hold the space my emotions took up in the room, led me back on my path to graduate school where I got my Master’s Degree, emphasis on Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed holding that safe space for others, knowing this is where I belong and where my purpose is being fulfilled.
My approach
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I aim to provide quality mental health care to couples, individuals, adolescents, teenagers, and the aging population. As a mental health professional, I assist clients through providing support, tools, and more utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and theories, such as psychodynamic, CBT, family systems, mindfulness, ACT, trauma-informed therapy, narrative and existential therapy. I also treat patients dealing with Insomnia at UCLA’s Insomnia Clinic. I connect with clients of diverse backgrounds by first building a foundation of trust and a safe environment. It’s essential that clients get personalized care based on who they are and what they intend to address in therapy. Entering into a therapeutic relationship is just that, a relationship, and as in any relationship, we both need to feel the potential for growth and trust within that relationship. This is especially true with couples, because inviting a therapist into your intimate relationship is a complicated dynamic in and of itself.
